GOPe Leadership and Democrats Preparing To Support Paul Ryan and Wage War Against Conservative Base…
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | October 18, 2015 by sundance | Sundance

It really is stunning how open the republican leadership in both the House and Senate are with their disdain for the base of their own party. Reports now surfacing that the GOPe has entered negotiations with Nancy Pelosi to support Paul Ryan.

According to Roll Call the Democrats are willing to elect Ryan if the GOPe promise to give them comprehensive immigration reform and amnesty legislation. Representative Steve King warns of the political bloodbath which would follow such a deal.

As Rep. Paul Ryan’s history of working for open borders has come under increasing scrutiny, conservative lawmakers have begun to publicly insist that any person who seeks to ascend to the Speakership must oppose amnesty and represent the vast majority of GOP voters who want to close the immigration valve.

I was just trying to understand why you are condemning others for voting for the lesser of two evils. But yet still promoting the lessor of two evils.

... meaning Cruz.

Cruz has been entirely consistent.

(1) Cruz switched on TPA when Wikileaks showed the immigration perfidy of TPP;

(2) Cruz supported the Iran bill because it was better than no review process at all;

(3) Cruz proposed an amendment removing a pathway to citizenship from the 2013 Gang of Eight immigration bill as a poison pill, that worked. The NYT then took him out of context.

You are proving Norm's point.

With friends like you, do conservatives need enemies?

Then explain how Bhoner and Mitch got elected after openly campaigning on working with Obama.

And now people are surprised that the house and senate leadership that campaigned on working with Obama are in fact working with Obama?

SOMEBODY elected them.

I find it interesting the latitude you hypocrites provide Ted Cruz on such things as TPP and amnesty.

My post 41 applies to you as well.

Yup, he is. They always do.

It’s not like I claim my position to be my sole invention. It’s basic conservatism 101 stuff. But the pragmatics can’t help but make excuses. Anything but a conservative. They don’t want what Cruz offers on the whole. They want to make excuses so the base talks itself into another leftist.

If they believed in conservatism, they would stand by conservatives. Period.

Then they sit back ‘offended’ that someone calls them on their actions.

SOMEBODY elected them.

Sadly, true enough.

I was just countering your pessimism. A tall order.

It’s not pessimism just cuz.. It’s observation based on history. Yea it’s pessemistic overall but what else can it be?

Happy thoughts and unicorns are supposed to be the domain of the left. We eithar can embrace the hard truths that we see and deal with them as they are or we might as well vote Hillary and be leftists.

It IS pessimism when you ignore the positive.

Own it.

I'm done with you.

If I was the Democrats the price of supporting Rino Ryan would be very high.

I think if the wanted Gun Control the GOPe would sell out the base and the NRA, and piss on the 2nd amendment.

These people have been bought by the Chamber of Ho’s

I guess that electing lesser evils has one hell of a downside. That is but one of many serious issues people should consider everytime one of the liberals here spouts off about how ‘principle is the problem, how the Dem is always worse, how lesser evil is somehow not evil and how winning no matter what trumps everything (no pun intended).

We face this mess because of those people. The problem is us. The right listened to that evil crap and caved in time after time. Now people just don’t want to hear that their personal choices contributed to this mess.

None of us, myself included are without sin here. We have all been guilty. The difference is some of us wised up and stopped empowreing our problems. Now we have to reap what we sowed. And some of ‘us’ were very productive farmers. They should be treated accordingly.

No more tyrants working for the left. The demand by Ryan that all the Freedom caucus people promise to support him COMPLETELY DISQUALIFIES him. The conservatives have this chance to practice what they preach and stand on principle for someone worth fighting for. (Huelskamp?) Come on. Step up. Get a real conservative in leadership.

Is this report credible? As I heard someone say yesterday on a talk show, Reagan used to say if a man agrees with me 80% of the time, should I reject his support because we disagree on the other 20%? (Or words to that effect.) Ryan would be the most conservative Speaker we have had in more than a century. Also the smartes and most articulate at explaining our agenda. What’s not to like?

FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.

******

The least socialist in a pack of socialists is still socialist.

Ryan lost a debate to Joe Biden. Smart? Articulate?
