Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Donald Trump's campaign has been "immensely beneficial" to his own campaign but added that his supporters will soon turn to him as they become "more educated."
"I think Donald's campaign has been immensely beneficial for our campaign and the reason is, he's framed the central issue of the Republican primary as, who will stand up to Washington," [sic] Trump told "Meet the Press" moderator Chuck Todd.
"Well, the natural follow up if that's the question is, who has actually stood up to Washington?" [sic] Trump continued, adding that he's the only one with the proven record of standing up to both Democrats and Republicans.
Cruz said that "as voters get more educated, study the candidates, listen to the candidates in person," conservatives are getting behind his candidacy.
The firebrand Texas senator has made few friends in Washington, even from his own party, with his no-compromise tactics that have on one occasion led to a government shutdown...
"You know others have gone out of their way to smack (Trump), I haven't," Cruz noted.

“Cruz hasnt done bad in either debate but hasnt been stellar either.”
Cruz has Princeton debate skills, effective until you come up against a scrappy street fighter.
When I was in second grade I was a Cruz supporter.!

So you supporter Cruz in 2014?
I was merely replying to a post— one must take measure comments in that context.
What do you mean. Trump came out and said we should accept the Syrian “refugees” for obvious humanitarian reasons. When he saw that wasn’t polling well he changed tunes within a week and said there’s no way Obama should be bringing in those Muslim immigrants. The only hint he’s given on a VP pick is when he said he thought Oprah Winfrey would make a “great” VP running mate. Oprah Winfrey! Oh, he wrote a book three years ago when he started contemplating this run and he’s managed to stay relatively consistent with it. Boy that’s impressive. Look to the decade before that. I give him credit that he’s now saying all the right things and I hope he sticks with them because he’s number two on my list after Cruz. I don’t trust him at all yet but his ability to shake up the whole corrupt system makes him worth the price of admission by itself.
OH horse crap. I do notice you don’t, or lead, tearing down Trump. But I also do not troll all The Cruz threads. I usually just respond to Cruzers on Trump threads.
Shame you can’t be even handed. But lets face it, I never picked on Cruz until I saw the petty nastiness directed at Trump. I kind of got tired of not responding to it.
Hmm? That sounds normal, doesn’t it! This thread is a Trump and Cruz thread, so anything goes.
I followed your link. It took bleeding forever to load, and then all I got was a blue screen.
The book was published four years ago, and deals with policy. If you want to base your entire view of Trump on the Syrian refugee issue, that is your choice.
I used to BE for Cruz, until I got a good look at, and a good listening to, Trump. I realized that Trump’s the only one with the chops to bust up the Corrupt Bastards Club, and put us back on the right track.
So now, here comes Cruz, stating that stupid me, when I get over my stupidity and get educated, I’ll drop Trump and switch to him.
NEWS FLASH TO CRUZ: Your so-called “standing up to Washington” has netted We The People exactly WHAT? Let me tell YOU what your actions in Washington just this year have given us. One of your cutesy votes has given us JPP. And the other cutesy vote provided funding for ACA, as I understand it.
So please run your own campaign, and regarding stealing Trump’s voters; don’t count your chickens too early. You’re getting real close to p***ing me off.
‘Oprah Winfrey would make a great VP running mate. Oprah Winfrey!’
Trump said this was a joke. But Trump haters have repeated it a million times anyway.
Shame you cant be even handed.

Nothing subjective, here. I said that Cruz would beat Donald trump in a one on one debate. Unless I miss me guess, most people would agree with that. You disagree, well, that’s your opinion—
No...you have it all wrong.
Killery will play the damsel in distress the way it did against Rick Lazio in 2000 when it was carpetbagging for the U.S. Senate Seat.
Cruz would move in for the kill like Lazio tried to do, and, the next thing you know, he invaded it’s space, and within nanoseconds of that exchange, his candidacy was toast.
Oh, the old John Kerry dodge. “I was just joking”
In a normal debate, based on words alone, Cruz could win. But these POTUS debates are not normasl debates. Too many other factors play into the outcomes.
I don’t think people watch debates to make their final decisions. If that were the case, Snarly would be on top.
So now Trump isn’t allowed a moment’s levity. He has to be 100% serious 100% of the time or...he’s John Kerry.
You Cruz supporters really know how to unimpress people.
“It is Cruz supporters turning Trump supporters against Cruz with their nasty attitude.”
Exactly that. I like and respect Cruz, but the irrational hatred - yes, actual vicious hatred - that some here display is bizarre.
yup
