Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Donald Trump's campaign has been "immensely beneficial" to his own campaign but added that his supporters will soon turn to him as they become "more educated."
"I think Donald's campaign has been immensely beneficial for our campaign and the reason is, he's framed the central issue of the Republican primary as, who will stand up to Washington," [sic] Trump told "Meet the Press" moderator Chuck Todd.
"Well, the natural follow up if that's the question is, who has actually stood up to Washington?" [sic] Trump continued, adding that he's the only one with the proven record of standing up to both Democrats and Republicans.
Cruz said that "as voters get more educated, study the candidates, listen to the candidates in person," conservatives are getting behind his candidacy.
The firebrand Texas senator has made few friends in Washington, even from his own party, with his no-compromise tactics that have on one occasion led to a government shutdown...
"You know others have gone out of their way to smack (Trump), I haven't," Cruz noted.

When you campaign for money or you have ‘super pacs’ you have to do what the ‘handlers’ tell you to do....this isn't all Cruz....and he doesn't handle his own money on this campaign and he, up until now, hasn't really said what his issues are whereas Trump has been out there since June telling us what his issues are and has written 2 plans of what he wants on taxes and second amendment rights....
The thing is, Cruz was my second choice. Lately I have to think about that.
This holier than thou attitude is a sure nuff general election loser.
Hardly an attack.
So would I but If Trump gets the nod I think he would surely pick Fiorina as his running mate if Hillary gets the Dem not. That way he can unleash Carly as the attack dog knowing she's shielded from the "misogynist" label.
I hope that you’re wrong.
‘To make it last you have to have an underlying philosophy and the intellectual underpinnings to have the movement outlast the man.’
This is what Trump’s book, Time to get Tough, was all about.
[What do you mean the only real conservative left in the race?]
TED CRUZ is the most Conservative Candidate.

And, in each case, you want somebody who will stand up to -- and overcome -- Washington.
Sure-
A Mexican national serially murder and raped in Texas, and was convicted and sentenced to death. But a Division of the World Court overturned his conviction because Texan law enforcement had not read the criminal his rights in Spanish.
Pres. George W Bush agreed, and adopted the World Court’s decision.
Cruz was Solicitor General in Texas at the time. Cruz opposed the World Court and Bush- took them to Court to argue the supremacy of the Texas and US Constitution.
It went to the Supreme Court- Cruz won.
If he had lost, or if he had acquiesced to Pres. Bush, international law would have superseded our Constitution, and your individual sovereignty thereunder.
Just think of it- Cruz, a young Texas official with aspirations, choose to put his personal career aside to oppose his own GOP President AND the Bush political family in Texas.
In my view- Cruz is a man of principle and deep moral conviction. I like Don Trump, not my business who supports him-— but it really frosts me when people on FR denigrate a patriot like Ted Cruz.
After the competency-related criticisms Trump has leveled at Fiorina, there is no way he could pick her.
Trump-Cruz works for me, as long as the net results are whatever you would expect from Cruz as president. Nothing to say there couldn’t be 16 years of good government to follow, or maybe Donald serves one term and Cruz goes for two more? Any way the situation can be rescued is good, the last thing we want to see would be these two guys fighting each other.
Well get over it. We discuss serious issues here, not trivia.
That wouldn't stop him a bit. Trump rewrites his history on pretty much a weekly basis and it doesn't hurt him a bit. So far.
What? Trump wouldn’t consider her as his V.P. If anyone Trump will pick Cruz or Carson as his running mate...the three of them have a pack...have you seen them biting each other? NO....
Carly is gone, done, over, finished!!!
If Cruz the corporatist (sic)
*************
Thanks, for saving me the time of reading the rest of your stupidity. Another Trump 3rd grader.
That is fine. I do not dislike Ted. I do not think he could win the general election in the current atmosphere.
What’s to say Trump won’t pick Sarah Palin as his running mate?
Just saying.
Ted, would chew him up and spit him out.
