I ran a front end at Walmart and the cashier turnover is unreal. You almost have to have 20 in the pipeline at all times for replacements, and they won’t do it.
Most of the people hired are young girls going to school, that have kids or are getting pregnant. Single all of them.
From day one they get into attendance trouble and within a month to six weeks they are gone. it cost on the average $5000 to hire an train.
Then there is never enough help in the departments to help people and they wonder about sales.
My son has worked in the produce department at Wal-Mart for two years. He shows up to work on time-actually 5-10 minutes early. On his first day on the job a customer
went to the manager and said how polite and helpful he was.
He now works full time and yes he has gotten a couple of raises and will be at $9.00 an hour.
He has made some good friends and is well liked-we just hope he does not get too comfortable there.
At my son’s store, all of the employees are very polite and helpful.
Heck I could do that for half that...........
I hear you. Just a complete lack of character on one hand. And don’t pay enough to attract decent people on the other. Sucks!
My brother in law did a study for a large call center operation and his results showed that their attendance policy was costing them a million every year per call center. Did they change their policy? Nope, they are still spending massive dollars on training because they will not go to flex-time or raise their salaries to attract better employees.
