I was in Portland Maine, working in Lewiston when they brought in the Somalis.

I guess many of them have assimilated by now, but at the time they really stood out on the streets of Maine, full of little frenchmen.

We recently met a family who lived in Rwanda. Devout Christians, conservative values. They escaped (barely) to Uganda during the massacre of the Christians in Rwanda. The family was split between the USA and Uganda while permanent asylum status was being argued in federal court. It was finally granted after many years and the family is together, living in Portland. That’s the kind of asylum seeker we should be looking for, not crazy muslims.

I had a friend whose mom married a black doctor, and no problem. Then her aunt married a Catholic Canuck. The family threw them out and refused to attend the wedding.
