The two tests that the mainstream churches use to determine whether a group is Christian or not is have they changed the nature of God or the nature of salvation. They can have a lot of heretical beliefs but they can’t err on those two.
Whether they can trace back to Rome doesn’t even enter the picture. It’s not a consideration.
