I think that's wrong, unless you're speaking generally. Trump leads with every demographic, very conservative, not so conservative, moderates, liberals, the young, African Americans and Hispanics-- except the elderly and very religious segment.
This is the Church Lady vote.
Trump attracts people who are tired or mistrustful of politicians. Carson is drawing from that same crowd. Yes, people who don’t like Trump’s apparent lack of religiosity will go Carson, but once he withdraws, Trump will be their guy.
I keep telling them Cruz should be their guy, but in this group he simply isn’t yet on their radar. My extended family is overwhelmingly supportive of Trump, and their second choice is Carson. Thats why I say, they draw from the same demographic because in my neck of the woods they literally are the same demographic. The Trump supporters see Carson as their number two, and the Carson supporters see Trump as their number two.
It’s the Morgan Freeman vote. People couldn’t tell you a damn thing about what Freeman believes in, his politics, even his movies besides maybe Bruce Almighty and Driving Miss Daisy, but everyone thinks he’s a nice man, a grandfatherly figure, etc etc. Same with Carson. He just seems like a nice guy. I went to USAFA with a bunch of the bible types. Real different perspective on life. It’s unreal some of the things that offend them and the relative moral superiority invoked in certain situations.
