Columbus? Do these guys have any imagination? Can they imagine where they would be without Columbus? They’d be hiding from invading Syrians

He could go back to 1941 to be born in Poland if he hates tgis country so much
Columbus never even set foot on the land that would later become the United States. That's the one thing that has always puzzled me about celebrating Columbus Day.
Had anything except European Christians arrived at what we know as American shores bent on dwelling in the land, the results would have been much more chaotic.
Many of the native woes after immigration began stemmed from tribes and immigrants taking sides as was convenient. One could call that taking torches to what already was wildfire, but even in conquest the western idea was not to annihilate or even enslave (something that is difficult to manage when one is living a nomadic lifestyle oneself) but to assimilate, or failing that to coexist in some kind of detente.
