Can bodies in the open air be skeletonized in that short of a time?
In the Phillipine jungle? I’m guessing it could - lots of bugs and critters down there.
Yes, in a humid jungle environment. In cold, dry, mountains they would be mummies.
Maggots. They work quick.
I have observed them so thick you could hear them working and turning from 30 feet away. But the stench went much further than that.
Did a google search on “how long will a carcass last in the jungle”. No good answers, and I hope the FBI doesn’t knock on my door!
I did forget to check a mouse trap I had outside. The bugs were well on their way to devouring it after only a week here in the mild Pacific NW.
Yes, I was wondering that too, but you know maybe it’s not really a precise description.
Hey, I went to the local Halloween store with hubby today and almost jumped out of my skin 10 times, so if this story is true I feel for this poor fellow to find such an awful thing.
In a tropical environment, especially if wildlife could get in there, yes, there would be only bones in a few months.
Insects. Animals. Rodents. Jungle..
Think about it.
Ants.
Without being too morbid...I don’t doubt it for a single second. I lived in the Philippines, and they had these red ants that could skeletonize a small animal in no time at all (a day or two if I recall correctly)
We used to catch large conch shells and put them on top of the ant hill near my house to clean them out. So I think it is entirely possible.
Absolutely - lots of things there to help remove flesh and speed decay. (Gross, I know)
