Thomas Johnson is schizophrenic. A talented athlete, he played about half a season for A&M before disappearing and then dropping out of school. He has been seriously mentally ill for years.
If he had used a gun today, we’d be hearing calls again for tighter gun control.

From what I’ve been told, when having an “episode”(like off his meds), he considered himself a character out of a 1970s movie. This isn’t the only time he’s acted out, but may be the first time he’s killed.
He, like the shooters in almost all of the mass killings of recent years, have in common untreated illness. When is our society going to realize that the mental health “reforms” of the 1960s-70s made it almost impossible to keep homicidal maniacs off the street?

Right down the street. Lot’s of people on the trail witnessed the attack. Horrific. Praying it wasn’t one of my neighbors.

Yes, of course, Chief Sherwin, this white victim was picked “AT RANDOM” by this black attacker? I wonder why the Chief would make a statement such as this? Did the killer say that? Of course, the killer said no such thing; with near certainty of being correct we can make that assumption. A word to the chief, “at random” means NO CRITERIA WAS USED TO “PICK THE VICTIM”. The chief clearly wants to foreclose any line of inquiry as to the criteria actually used by the murderer.
