If Republicans are smart they’ll figure out a way to provoke one of these tantrums in public.
I’ve mentioned that, following the 1988 GOP Iowa primary, George HW Bush told his NH campaign staff to “Make (Bob Dole) mad.”. The result was a series of public provocations/confrontations that ended up with Dole, on camera, snapping “go back into your cave” at an opposing activist.
It reinforced everything people throught about “mean” Bob Dole, and helped Bush win the state.
