I’ll concede almost any point you’ve raised in that thoughtful post.
If Cruz can show he is free of GOPe donor influence and demonstrate he is capable of winning the General, I’m in.
Trump’s lack of a record and his money are his big selling points to me. Is Cruz truly an outsider? I hope so.
I don’t think being an outsider has to mean being a populist and constantly critiquing big business. Some Republican grass-roots are swinging to much to the Bernie Sanders/Elizabeth Warren side for my tastes. I believe in the Reagan trickle-down approach that what’s good for business is good for the country. As long as no business gets unfair breaks over any other business. Obviously I support across-the-board tax breaks for business but not subsidies.
For me the most important plank of the party is social conservatism. It’s also the plank most often abandoned and thrown overboard by the GOP establishment.
Cruz has criticized and stood up to the donors, even in his recent speech on the Senate floor last month. As Cruz said in his speech, the big donors typically make 3 demands, support gay marriage, support abortion, and support amnesty. And that is why the GOP establishment joins with the Democrats on those issues more with each passing year. To me it’s been clear for a long time that the degrading of the social conservatism planks of the party are the biggest threat coming from the donor class. I trust Cruz more than any other candidate to keep all of those issues a priority.
Also, if Cruz’ wife is an issue, what about Trump’s daughter?
I think that gender is a very real issue around the globe and here domestically, based on wage inequality that is still prevalent in the U.S., she said.
...in January his daughter Ivanka Trump reportedly attended the New York City Reception in Support of Freedom to Marry, an organization that’s seeking marriage equality nationwide for same-sex couples.
Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton are (not so) secretly friends
Chelsea recently told People: I’m really grateful Ivanka’s my friend. She’s a great woman. Friendship is always more important than politics.
The two women, who both live in Manhattan, reportedly go on double dates with their husbands, Marc Mezvinsky and Jared Kushner.
On social media too the women regularly message each other on Facebook and Twitter
