Sen. Ted Cruz said Thursday that he doesnt think that Donald Trump will capture the 2016 GOP presidential nomination and predicted that it is only a matter of time before most of the New York billionaires supporters will move into his camp. During an appearance on WABC-AM Radio, host Rita Cosby asked Mr. Cruz whether he would eventually move past Mr. Trump based on his conservative principles, and the Texas Republcian said I think thats right. In time, I dont believe Donald is going to be the nominee, and I think in time the lions share of his supporters end up with us, Mr. Cruz said. Mr. Trump has tangled with most of the candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination and has touted how some of his rivals have sunk in the polls after attacking him. But he has not traded barbs with Mr. Cruz, who has been Mr. Trumps biggest ally in the crowded GOP field. In the WABC-AM interview, Mr. Cruz continued to praise Mr. Trump, saying he liked and respected Donald. Mr. Cruz said Mr. Trump has boosted his candidacy and his chance of becoming the partys standard-bearer. I think his involvement has been tremendously helpful to my campaign because it has framed the central question of the primary as: Who will stand up to Washington? Mr. Cruz said. And if thats the central question, the natural next question, that any voter will ask is okay, well who actually has stood up to Washington? Who has a record in that regard? The Cruz campaign also announced Thursday that he will report raising $12.2 million over the last three months exceeding the hauls of fellow Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, who plans to report $6 million, and Rand Paul of Kentucky, who raised $2.5 million.

No, and I do fully expect Trump to say just that.
Why would he not? It’s called a race because the winner gets the most votes. Candidates are expected to compete for the same voters.
Legal status will take jobs away from our citizens who need them most. Don’t forget it comes with a legal obligation to employers to not be discriminatory in hiring citizens over those who are legal but not citizens.
A bloodbath for our already battered minorities whose families have been here for centuries.
A nightmare for employers.
Thats pretty hard core. You really should vote.
Vote for Homer Simpson? I wrote it in instead of Romney in 2012.
I live in Washington State. The lesser evil is all I ever get here. Sucks but true.
lol that did sound like a yogism didn’t it?
WOW, I gotta admit that I am flabbergasted by this statement. I have got to listen to the actual broadcast
Trump is very unhappy with them in this interview. They wanted a million dollars from him for what? To drop his approval of eminent domain? See video for Trump's explanation of his approval. But it's all deeper than that.
Will be going to hear/see Stephen Moore soon and may get a clearer picture.
It’s not adoration or messiah-like reverence, though. That’s what it looks like to people who don’t understand how deeply we care about the issues and how much we have been longing for someone to come along who is independent and dealing with these issues head-on, with no obligations to anyone but us.
That should read “to stop their campaign to outfinance Trump.”
What's with the bizarre, emotional, troll outbursts over Ted's answer?
He is running in the same race. Was he supposed to put on a Trump hat and say Trump has it in the bag?
He did not put Trump down, he praised him, appreciated him being in the race (This is unlike what Trump's legion of trolls do on Cruz threads).
Shhhhheeeeeeeesh... lighten up people.
I support Cruz because I think he is The Best person to deal with all the destruction that has been done to our country.
It's not that the others wouldn't be 100× better than current leader too, but Cruz is who we need. I pray that he can get there.
lewis, You are more articulate than I so I’m sure you’re smarter. However
Cruz is voting for these things because HE expects to utilize them when he is president.
Look back at the fits the lefties threw over stuff like the Patriot Act & all that. Their Congressmen did Zippo. Enter 0bama- he expanded all that & added a bunch of stuff because Dubya pushed the envelope a bit, himself.
They’re building something. And it’s not going to be the America we knew & love. This is why they’re going after TRUMP so hard.
What Cruz’s angle is, I don’t know- but it ain’t good. Count on it. We’ve seen Cruz in action before. We just didn’t know it. Constitutionalist, my eye! (He is the Bush’s boy AND is John Roberts good buddy. Now, think about who Roberts is & think about the ‘’hoteliers’’ on Long Island that Cruz went to see. What’s up with that? This is deeeeep.)
We need clean up on this thread -It’s got troll droppings all over it.
You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? And all this time, I thought y’all were just starry eyed innocents.
I don't know much, but I would say this about that.
Sooner or later, Cruz had to make a move--his backers would expect/demand it. And of course that move would be against the leader.
That said, this might be another media misquote. I haven't actually seen video of the Cruz statement and don't know the full context.
In the final analysis, we DO KNOW for a fact that we regular Americans are much closer to the truth that those in Washington (just ask Kevin McCarthy and John Boeher). Trump will not be outdone by the Establishment or the Donor Class.
He will be the nominee and President...or there will be Revolution.
Candidates will NEVER admit publicly that they think (or know) that they are going be anything other than the winner.
It just isn’t done.
Any pronouncements they make on the subject can be ignored. It’s just meaningless political blather, and they all do it.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Yes, I certainly agree!
Uh oh
Well, isn’t this what we expected........Cruz made a public statement...it did not go out void.
