Maybe so, but that is not really the point. The only thing that ended up stopping the Nazis was bigger better guns (in every sense of the term). Whether they were willing to use guns for their personal protection or not, the fact is that that was the only way to stop them. And what about the other citizens of Germany and the invaded countries? Confiscating guns from the citizens was the first thing the nazis did. Why? So the people could not rebel.

Now that would have been different, a vastly armed cross-section of the populations would have been radically different and would have caused immense trouble, which is why they were disarmed.
But a section of the population, historically at that time, known for being in general pacifist wouldn’t have really made much difference for that section of the population. What eventually occurred would have occurred regardless.
