Every day seems to bring an escalation of the Russian military involvement in Syria. First it was airstrikes from more than 30 warplanes that Russia has positioned in Syria. Now its cruise missile strikes from warships in the Caspian Sea. Soon, if hints from Moscow are to be believed, Russian volunteers a.k.a. Little Green Men will be showing up in Syria to engage in ground combat alongside Iranian and Assad forces.
President Obama can pretend that this is no big deal and that Russia is getting sucked into a quagmire, but this is a serious geopolitical disaster and a major humiliation for the United States. Putin, in fact, seems to be going out of his way to target American-backed rebel groups and to send his aircraft to violate the airspace of Turkey, a NATO ally, as if to demonstrate how powerless mighty American has become and how once-weak Russia can again strut on the world stage.

And they will kill Isis when they are done cleaning up the coast where Russians and Assad family are more immediately under threat.
Well stated. You should make the jump, quit the thug stuff and give credit to Putins' honor in moving his country forward.
Now Putin is moving the world forward by walking the talk in Syria and setting an example for Americans of what a country culture values should be.
Rush has been on the kick that we are erasing our culture, Buchanan has said the same for years. Primarily due to Putin, Russia is fighting in preserving western culture. not the Europeans or the USA.
Conservatism has a leader in Russia (Putin) , not in the US (Obama).
I think, knock on wood so far, Putin is great, no how a thug, and I bet Trump will partner up with him. Maybe W had it right when first he looked into Putins' eyes.
The US created ISIS. We trained and funded them. They were the new boogieman.
The Russians are simply using what we set up to benefit them.
We could have crushed ISIS three years ago, two years ago, one year ago, etc.
You don’t hear about Boko Haram any more. The Nigerians ended that threat with their regular army troops.
Obama should hang for his crimes. Period.
I guess you missed the part where the head of the church was revealed as a KGB asset. That’s control.
I know enough about it to know that it is headed by a KGB asset, and the KGB goons still runs the Russian government. Those aren’t opinions, either.
America on the decline?
Somebody is eating our lunch!
It would sure shut a lot of flapping jaws.
And, it would make our allies feel safe under US protection.
Right now, every country who has relied on Uncle Sam for security is sh!tting themselves with fear and looking for options.
The United States is very untrustworthy because Democrats occasionally get elected. The solution is to redesign the system to make it impossible to elect such horrible people. I saw an article the other day regarding this problem, and I think it made a great deal of sense.
Of course, short of collapse, I don't see that solution getting implemented any time soon.
I note that Ronald Reagan said that if those hostages were still being held when he took office, we would go to war with Iran. I also note that the Iranians let them go the very day of his inauguration. I knew Reagan was the man we needed back in 1976, but we had to go with Charisma-less Ford, and the consequences were utterly predictable to me at the time.
The Russians took very serious notice of Reagan's threat to fire PATCO. When he did it, they said "this is a man who will do what he says he will do." That colored all of our subsequent foreign policy relations.
America was better for it, and it is exactly what we need right now. So far, Cruz seems to be the only man who has that kind of determination. Just my opinion.
At best, Russia’s support for Christianity is fraudulent. It fools the fools on FReeRepublic who buy into the weird idea that Putin is a devout and sincere Christian. They also ignore his ties to the anti-Christian mad mullahs in Iran and have helped Iran become a state on the cusp of developing nuclear weapons. Putin and Obama have both done a lot to make the world a very dangerous place. I cannot understand how anyone could support either one of these men.
And while Putin is not the second coming of Napoleon, neither is he incompetent. What he has accomplished for Russia after the fall of the USSR and the botched recovery of Yeltsin is note worthy. He did it quick via resource ownership (aka oil economy, etc) but the victim was bleeding badly when he came to power. His fix was fast and at time dirty but the victims tended to be dirty oligarchs themselves and it stabilized the economy and saved Russia.
