I think you mean that the Holy Spirit draws us to Jesus for repentance. Some do believe that good works will bring one to Christ - but good works are a fruit of having accepted the Lord. Now, whatcha gonna do with this Scripture in Philippians 2:12?
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
I quote the next verse:
Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
And also to point out that to "work out your own salvation" has more to do with performing those acts which accompany it, but do not earn it:
Rom_4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
