Our problem is we have no identified goals. Is it to topple Assad or defeat ISIS? The difficulty is telling "our" guys from the bad guys, and in fact they're all bad guys.
While those items are not mutually exclusive, either one will require far more energy and resources than Obama is willing to commit, and by dithering between the two, we're making negative progress in both directions.

The first is opening the road to Damascus for resupply, and them cutting off ISIS from it’s main source of supply and oil sales, TURKEY.
