MOSCOW Ratcheting up the confrontation over the Syria war, Russia said Monday that its volunteer ground forces would join the fight, and NATO warned the Kremlin after at least one Russian warplane trespassed into Turkeys airspace.
The saber-rattling on both sides reflected a dangerous new big-power entanglement in the war, as longstanding differences between Russia and the United States over President Bashar al-Assad of Syria and his opponents increasingly play out not only in the halls of the United Nations but on the battlefield in Syria.

They might get thousands of American volunteers.
Many poorly trained Russians are about to die , how will Putin hide to bodies this time
He can’t. And that’s the Catch-22: big man saves the Russian Mediterranean naval base, vs. the domestic blow back of bodies coming home. People do crazy stuff when the price of oil falls and their economy depends on it.
Catch-22 for conservatives, too. Putin turns out weak, BHO (aka B’Ho) looks like a genius (which the mainstream media will make him out to be.
Hard to see where Russia is getting the money for this expedition (unless it’s from the Iran deal).
How can these recruits be callously rushed into combat without critical diversity and gender sensitivity training???
Oh NOES!!!!
BS.
Russian Special Forces.
With no uniforms.
Just like we do it.
Each of them knows that if they are captured, all they can look forward to is the revenge their compatriots will dish out.
Russia has stated their objective is to ensure the survival of the Assad regime and the governing institutions of Syria. Why nobody believes them is baffling to me.
First they will clear an unchallenged supply route from Latavia/Tartus to Damascus.
Homs is in the way.
I think you’re right. These are prolly more like German ‘Brandenbergers’ in WWIi. Highly trained special forces.
Putin doesn’t need to hide bodies, he can just tell the press in Russia not to report on them or they’ll either be imprisoned or killed.
