I dont believe that Bush invaded Iraq for that anymore than I believe he blew up the twin towers.
That’s ridiculous.
Bush believed rightfully so that there was a world wide terrorist network being supported by an axis of evil which included Iraq, Iran, and North Korea.
He was right.
He should have blown all three off the map while he had the support of 90%+ of the American people, instead he got bogged down in a land war in Asia and started listening to liberals which caused him to tone things down even further.

Bush told the American people repeatedly that he was going to plant democracy. That planting democracy was going to fix the problems in the middle east. That the people there wanted democracy and to be self governed. That was his stated reason, (after the WMD's).
Planting democracy in the middle of the old Ottoman empire, to end a war and to end terrorism. Now that was not a good idea.

Yep..... in the days immediately after 9-11 he could have gotten away with tactical nuking a few major cities over there.

He fell victim to the most famous blunder - never get involved in a land war in Asia.
Only slightly less well known is this...
Never go in against a Sicilian - when death is on the line.
