You have a problem with Putin bombing jihadists? Did you also have a problem with Russia bombing Hitler?
That's a bad analogy, because of who "Hitler" is in this analogy.
But it should give a lesson in how any alliance with Russia is a deal with the devil and not to be take at face value - certainly not believing Putin's public "intentions." So the analogy is worth some lessons.
Russia was an ally of Hitler until he attacked them. And as a result:
Russia became as big an existential threat to the West.
But your analogy is flawed, there's a better one. The Nazi Country is Iran. Iran's ally is Syria. Russia's allies are Iran and Syria. That's who Russia's military intervention is designed to help.
So it would be more correct to ask: "You have a problem with Russia fighting Hitler's battles?
The problem I have is those, particularly presidential candidates who don't see this.
