There was no strategy for a victory because Johnso and McNamara did not have victory as a goal. They just buried 50,000+ kia for political expediency. May they both be burning in hell for eternity.

Johnson didn’t want the Vietnam War to interfere with his massive Great Society domestic plans and he was willing to needlessly put at risk American troops in order to achieve that goal. MacNamara was a supremely arrogant SOB who routinely ignored the advice of the uniformed military on how the war should be fought. LBJ and MacNamara were responsible for many needless American casualties.
