Yes.
Many places have unarmed security who is there to pretty much give appearances of doing something.
Since the sites don’t want to tickle the liability fairy/ogre, they don’t want anyone actually able to do anything besides wave fingers and go “bad doggy, no no.”
So, as security, you get to sit there and be a happy helpless target to act as spaced armor for anyone behind you.
