Russia Claims ISIS Now On The Ropes As Fighters Desert After 60 Airstrikes In 72 Hours
Zero Hedge ^ | 3 Oct 2015

One question that’s been asked repeatedly over the past thirteen months is why Washington has been unable to achieve the Pentagon’s stated goal of “degrading and defeating” ISIS despite the fact that the “battle” pits the most advanced air force on the planet against what amounts to a ragtag band of militants running around the desert in basketball shoes.

Those of a skeptical persuasion have been inclined to suggest that perhaps the US isn’t fully committed to the fight. Explanations for that suggestion range from the mainstream (the White House is loathe to get the US into another Mid-East war) to the “conspiratorial” (the CIA created ISIS and thus doesn’t want to destroy the group due to its value as a strategic asset).

The implication in all of this is that a modern army that was truly determined to destroy the group could likely do so in a matter of months if not weeks and so once Russia began flying sorties from Latakia, the world was anxious to see just how long the various rebel groups operating in Syria could hold up under bombardment by the Russian air force.

The answer, apparently, is “less than a week.”

„so what is really going on here? Putin is trying to destroy ISIS??? He’s taking action where we won’t???”

I think Putin’s goal is twofold. For one, get rid of the Syrian Rebels Obama and McCain have given their support to. And two, push ISIS back to Iraq where the Iranians can deal with them while taking over the country. And more than likely they will chase ISIS into western Iraq and then be on Jordan’s doorstep.

And I think part of the strategy was to create havoc in Yemen which ties up the Saudis.

I think we can be certain that Israel, Jordan and Egyptian generals are talking.

Gee, look what happens when you stop burdening the pilots with stupid RoEs.

I doubt this is entirely true, but I bet the Sov, er, Russkis have done more damage in three days that the US Armed Forces have done in three months.

..."Russia likes being in a position of control of oil flow to europe"....

They're by-passing Syria in that respect....all roads leading thru Turkey now....

It's Saudi that wants Syria for it's pipeline....

Chechnya’s Kadyrov is Putin’s buttboy. He’s all in for what’s happening now and he’s sitting on the really bad guys who did things like the Beslan school massacre.

Iran too is fighting to send their oil thru Syria....Saudi wants it as well.... Russia's just tired of the fighting getting in his way and the disruptions in the ME causing his agenda to get bogged down.

If the CIA created ISIS, what was the purpose. I haven’t found the answer to this question.

The purpose was to create massive waves of muslim refugees to swarm into, and overwhelm western civilized nations.

It's working.

The muslim populations are the weapons.

Our forces had high value targets like depots and training camps taken off the target list because we might have hurt ISIS “dependents.”
Needless to say, ISIS probably followed up by surrounding other targets with such “dependents.”
Since the Sov, er, Russkis do not care about such things, they probably went ahead an bombed heck out the target AND dependents. Good for them. I would have considered the dependents “bonus points.”

Y’know, if they had just run it through Jordan and Israel...

But of course, the anti-Semitic Euroweenies and Arabs cannot allow any revenue to go to Israel and the Jews.

In your top graphic, that will be Russian controlled oil when that pipeline gets built. Both Europe and the Saudis want a pipeline from the M.E. fields to Europe bypasing any countries Russia controls or is friendly to Russia. Hence the need to take out Assad's regime. The west blocked Russia's plans to build a pipeline through Ukraine, for now.

What's happening, IMO of course... :-D

More importantly, what these conficts eventually lead to.

A-10s keeping the desert roads between towns shut down 24/7 would seem to be a way to keep things calmed down.

Russia already paid for Assad, they are simply getting rid of all threats to him. That includes all rebels, ISIS and others.

We really couldn’t tell the difference between our newest Osama bin Ladens and the rebels. Mostly because they are one in the same.

“That would be great....let them all go to Syria and we’ll be rid of the scum!...besides even so called ‘Rebels’ in Syria have been taken over by terrorist groups...the so called CIA backed rebels being bombed by Russsia are in fact al quaeda......as far as I’m concerned they’re all terrorists!”

So Barack is telling us, “al quaeda getting killed in Syria by Russians is bad, and the US killing them in Afghanistan is good.”
