Anybody else remember, that some liberals have said Obama can ignore the debt ceiling based in the 14th amendment? That amendment has language to the effect that the public debt shall be honored and paid. So based on that, some had suggested Obama doesn’t need congress to do anything.
Just waiting to see if this subject comes up again as we face this deadline coming up. Obama likes to operate based in executive orders and if the GOP is spineless,obama will take unilateral action.

Seems to me like all this debt is a violation of that amendment’s “assume … any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States” clause in Section 4 of same.
That wasn’t even necessary. Boner and McConnell have been waving the white flag pre-emptively for weeks. I guess Obama just wanted to show off a little before they give him eveything he wants.

It NEVER ceases to amaze me how few people, in the U.S., understand why this is ALWAYS a charade!! The Debt Ceiling has to ALWAYS be raised, regardless of who’s in power, because the U.S. Gov’t is BROKE!! It is the ONLY way to “repay” just the “interest” from previous DEBT! This is a two party (card) monty between the Dems and Repubs! Both sides know it. The Banksters Cartel (which OWNS the Fed Reserve) obligates ALL politicians to ALWAYS raise the debt....otherwise the interest alone (forget about ever paying the principle off) from the previous debt CAN NOT be paid! There isn’t enough tax revenues to cover that plus everything else! The Fed Reserve (and their Banksters Masters) hate it when “politicians” from either party play around with not raising the Debt ceiling! It’s like telling your kids to stop messing around when everyone knows it’s going to be RAISED! This is why the Republican party is a FRAUD (The Dems have long gone Socialist/ Marxist so you’d expect them to borrow FOREVER)! If they (Rep) were REALLY serious on the “Debt Ceiling” they would Audit the Fed to expose the Banking Cartels’ power over our Government and currency!!!
