Cumberland County man cannot keep his grandfather's World War II rifle because it is an illegal assault firearm, according to a Sept. 15 New Jersey Superior Court Appellate Division decision.
The New Jersey State Police seized Danny Burt's M1 carbine and 20 other firearms in April 2013 after a temporary restraining order was lodged against him.

My Dad told me a story of firing one, an M2 in anger, and the firing pin broke. He was glad to exchange it for one of the new-fangled Stoner guns with a direct gas inpingement firing system.
Believe his exact words were, “as slick as cat *** on linoleum.”
That’s terrible.
I grew up on Long Island many years ago and it wasn’t as bad back in those days.
I’m sorry for your loss.
The people of New Jersey should violently revolt.
The M2 you show is the selective fire full auto capable version of the M1 carbine.
