Oregon passed gun control:
“HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -
Gov. Kate Brown signed a new bill into law on Monday, tightening up state gun control laws by making more people go through background checks before they can buy a firearm.
With the passing of the law, a criminal background check will be required on all handgun sales.
Michael Knoetig from MK Tactical in Hillsboro went to Salem for the first hearing on Senate Bill 941. Like many who are against this new law, he calls it “poorly written.”
He says he now cannot hand a firearm to a customer anymore without running a background check first on a particular gun.
“You cannot handle a firearm in my store until I have done a background check on that specific firearm for you, Knoetig said. Now of course you don’t want to do a background check until you’re ready to buy that gun.”
Now that the “Oregon Firearms Safety Act” has been signed into law, background checks are now required for private gun sales, whether that’s person to person, or over the Internet.
Private sales will have to take place in front of a licensed gun dealer, who then can run a background check, something that Knoetig didn’t want to see.”
“SALEM, Ore. (AP) Oregon Democrats have muscled through legislation expanding background checks to cover nearly every private firearm sale in the state.
House lawmakers passed a bill Monday making it illegal to transfer a gun to someone who isnt a close relative. Private sales would have to take place in front of a licensed gun dealer who can run a background check.
The bill would make Oregon the eighth state with universal background checks.”
Glad to know they have universal background checks. Ought to make Oregon a mighty safe place to be!
So much for that idea ....
