You wrote “It doesn’t concern you at all that a man who wants to be the nation’s leader has been unable to get more than one senator to follow him on anything?”
What that means is that only one senator is not totally corrupted and will follow him.
The other senators range from: kind of corrupted to more corrupted to really corrupted to “Whoa Nellie!” The Senate is a den of snakes and has a Republican majority that has voted almost all legislation the house passed.
Gee! I wonder how that happened?

Well, no, it doesn't mean that. I don't think Jeff Sessions or Tim Scott are "corrupted." What it means is that Ted hasn't been able to get anyone to follow. Leading CAN mean taking a principled stand that you know will lose. But it sure better be more than that, because you only get one of those. And very, very few people---principled or otherwise---will sign on to such a thing unless there is a pretty good plan to WIN when you come out on the other side.
The guys at the Alamo didn't just commit suicide. They were convinced that IF they fought and died, Houston would have time to train the army and defeat Santa Anna. Either way, Travis wasn't alone. He got 120+ other guys to stay there with him.
