Suppose some billionaire bought the Pieta. Where would he put it? Would it be open to the public?

And the moment he DID buy it, wouldn’t the cry go up: “You should sell the Pieta, and give the money to the poor!”

And suppose another billionaire bought it. The cry would instantly go up: “You should sell it and give the money to the poor!”

The sell-it-and-give-the-money-to-the-poor crowd will ALWAYS be griping, until somebody SMASHES the Pieta.

And where are the people griping to the French government: “You should sell the Mona Lisa and give the money to the poor!”
