“His problem is he only appeals to the conservative base. He has no appeal to indies and cant bring in any others.”
That was one of the main things that got me to switch to Trump. Cruz and only Cruz was my choice, except for his H1-B love, but he simply can’t win when he’s drawing this low. If Trump wasn’t in this I’d be content to vote for Cruz in the primary and then skip the general when Jeb! or one of his idiot clones got the nomination.
But Trump can win the whole thing. My gut instinct tells me that he’s a patriot who never really thought deeply about political issues before, so I don’t put a lot of stock in what he’s said over the years. He was a businessman and not a freeper political junkie. And it’s telling that Cruz likes him. But to each his own. I can understand why COA doesn’t trust him, but I think she’s mistaken. I just hope she’s pleasantly surprised when/if he wins.
It wouldn't please me at all, Pelham, but I don't see Trump appealing to a wide enough base of voters to become the nominee. He can't control his mouth long enough.
Three years ago Trump was widely regarded as a joke, a shyster, and a liberal on FR. I haven't changed in that regard. I've done enough reading about the man to know that he's a sleazebag, and when I saw him waving a Bible around today as a prop...no. I won't be changing my mind about him.
I keep hearing people say they like Cruz and would support him if his numbers were higher. Well, but it doesn't work that way. His numbers go higher WHEN we support him. As he said at the Values Voters Summit today, if we unite, we win. I've been a Cruz supporter from the beginning and I'll remain one, whether he's polling high, low, or in-between.
