People who think that the H1B program is the heart and source of America's immigration problem

Who thinks that?

Good. Cruz needs to be pushed in the right direction by Trump and others.

Question! Doesn’t an HB1 allow a person to stay indefinitely in some or all cases?

Like all work visas, they expire and need to be renewed - conditional on the employer's request and INS approval. In theory, it's possible to keep renewing the work visa indefinitely, I'm not sure how often this happens.

A more likely problem is people illegally staying here after their work visas have expired.

You posted:

“She didn’t ask about deporting the parents. She said “Would you deport US citizen children?”

No, that is a false statement, if you want to bring up false statements.

Megyn Kelly’s question, as I posted:

Question: “whether the Texas senator would deport immigrants who came to the United States illegally if their children were born in the country.”

Notice: She was asking about IMMIGRANTS WHO CAME TO THE UNITED STATES ILLEGALLY IF THEIR CHILDREN... That is about deporting parents, NOT children.

Trump was asked the same question. He did not evade the question.

The h-1B quota is 65,000 per year. Not a small problem for those in the IT industry.

Ted Cruz wants to increase H-1B visas from 65,000 to 325,000 annually

I challenge you to link to any quote by Cruz that would make you think he was for amnesty.

It is not what he said, it is what he hasn't said.

If he had taken the same position as Trump he would not be in single digits, but I doubt he can change tactics today and gain anything, that ship has sailed.

I posted a few articles a while ago on FR regarding his views on amnesty (anybody can use google to find them). Folks were in an uproar over it and it got the mods attention to qualify my posts before they could be submitted for about a week until more FReepers started reading/posting the same quotes I had found.

There are 15 candidates in the field. Mathematically almost all of them would be in single digits. Again, let’s wait until we are at least closer to voting time to see who is where

“Cruz was then asked, “if you have a husband and a wife who are illegal immigrants, and they have two children who are here, who are American citizens, would you deport all of them? Would you deport the American citizen children?”

“After Kelly again asked whether the American citizen children of illegal immigrants would be deported under his policy, Cruz answered, “Megyn, I get that that’s the question you want to ask, that’s also the question every mainstream media liberal journalist wants to ask. They focus exclusively “

No. It has, however, been abused by people trying to stay here indefinitely, however, far less often than by those with other work permits or student visas.

See my links above. Or, you know, continue to rely on misquotes and MSM distortions.

he refused to come out four-square against amnesty when Megyn Kelly gave him the opportunity a few weeks ago.

Corker: without the Corker bill, Obama would not have had to submit the TREATY ( because that is what it is, even if no one will call it that) at all.

With out a bill he could not have released the money either, which is why they needed one.

No, the question I heard was when Trump had just announced that all illegals would be deported. Kelly asked him point blank three times — would you deport ALL illegals like Trump. Cruz refused to answer, said that was a question that the press would ask, etc.

His position on birth right citizenship is about as murky.
____________________________________________________________

Yeah. If Cruz has answers all over the place concerning amnesty and birth right citizenship, that’s a problem.

He should have answered “yes” because they are not really American citizens. He was accepting HER premise, and refused to counter it. I don’t know if was the same interview, but the Constitutional expert waffled on the 14th amendment controversy. He could have countered her premise. Most Constitutional experts would have backed him up.

Again, Trump said deport them all, if they are illegal.
