>> This really hurts.

Yes, it does. Alzheimer’s took my mom at 60.

Prayers for Kim and Glenn both.

A parent’s death at any age is difficult, but 60 is very young, especially for Alzheimers. My dad went through this a few weeks ago at age 85. I knew he had become very ill when the doctors said he was both fighting and biting the nurses. Biting? My father has been biting people? That was completely out of character. I had to ask the doctor to repeat that a few times to make sure I had heard correctly. Two weeks after, he was struck mute. Two weeks after that, he was gone.

Yep...I lost two aunts to this debilitating disease....both were married to my Uncle at different times and he nursed them both through. He was an incredible man. Such love and understanding he showed...and learned early on not to interfer with what they wanted to do, rather get in their world with them and coax them gently. HE even picked flowers off the headboard with my Aunt for awhile , then asked if they could finish later since he was getting tired....amazing the way he handled the situations. My one aunt was just 56 when it hit her....
