Yes, I typically travel for 194 days at a time, too. Oh wait, I don’t, what with the pesky job, bills, responsibilities and all. Fortunately these folks seem to be fully untethered! /s
The Darién Gap is 160km by 50km of jungle in Southern Panama and Northern Columbia, filled with wasps, snakes, drug dealers and FARC guerrillas and, no roads! No way could a VW Microbus filled with a family cross this piece of land! Now, if they took a ferry from somewhere in Columbia to somewhere in Panama, that is possible but the article does not mention it.
Actually, the more I think about it, the less it becomes a 'scent of a little 'mierda de toro' and more of the odour of a huge, steaming pile of 'mierda de toro'!
One lady drove 800 miles from Florida with her six children to see Comrade Pope from afar ... I wonder if that was an excused absence for the children? So I would guess that this couple’s children didn’t need school or a family life when blessed with the opportunity to see Comrade Pope from afar.
It’s times like this I miss eleven long-haired Friends of Jesus In a chartreuse microbus. At least they were born here.....
These morons never heard of the airplane?
Gotta visa?

What's the Worst Car of the Millennium?
The motoring public has spoken!(with actually comments by those casting their vote).
And...the winner is...
Well, you'll just have to check for yourself!
And, if you ever owned one of thse top ten heaps of the millennium, please accept our humble condolences.
10th Place: The VW Bus
"If everyone had to own one of these as a first car as I did, there would be no traffic jams anywhere. At least half of us would be so turned off by the experience of owning a car, that we would seek alternate means of transportation."
"There was no heat-- unless, that is, the auxillary gas heater caught on fire."
"The bus had no heat, blew over in the wind and used the driver's legs as its first line of defense in an accident."
"It was a death trap on the highway- you could never go fast enough. The chances were good that you'd be hit from the rear."
The comments on this thread... Sigh.
Family. Good on them; hope they return safely after their visit ends.
