Via RCP, the balls on this guy to even pay lip service to this subject in front of the Pope. Give me one example of the Obama administration going to the mat to expand religious freedom here or abroad. He fought Hobby Lobby and the Little Sisters of the Poor in court to make them provide contraception as part of their health-care plans notwithstanding their religious objections. He sits by and says nothing when small business owners are sued into oblivion by state AGs when they politely refuse to provide services to gay weddings on grounds that their faith doesn’t allow it. (Actual quote from the clip you’re about to watch: “People everywhere must be able to live out their faith free from fear and free from intimidation.”) He just made a deal with a theocratic Shiite regime that’s persecuting Sunnis in Syria, clearing the way for them to become a nuclear power in 15 years. He’s running a halfhearted war of token airstrikes against ISIS, an even greater persecutor of religious minorities, despite domestic and international clamor for him to do more. What’s the big Obama legacy achievement on religious freedom that warrants him even mentioning this topic? Where’s the evidence that the overwhelmingly secular, statist national Democratic leadership views religious freedom as an important priority at all?

I was but a very young man (21) when I did a very long tour of Catholic Europe. I COULD NOT BELIEVE the the idolatry that is the worship of “Mary”. It is astonishing.
All I remember about this church is nuns telling me how evil I am, and the worship of Mary. I walked out at age 12, never to return.

Note that the Constitution, particularly Section 5 of the 14th Amendment (14A), indicates that Congress is the starting point for strengthening constitutionally enumerated personal protections, 1st Amendment (1A)-protected religous expression in this case. The Supreme Court put it this way.
“3. The right of suffrage was not necessarily one of the privileges or immunities of citizenship before the adoption of the Fourteenth Amendment, and that amendment does not add to these privileges and immunities. It simply furnishes additional guaranty for the protection of such as the citizen already had [emphasis added].” —Minor v. Happersett, 1874.
The problem is that we have a worthless, RINO-controlled Congress that’s evidently not willing to lift a finger to enforce Section 1 of 14A which prohibits the states from abridging constitutionally enumerated protections like 1A-protected religous expression.
14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
The irony is that it’s probably better if corrupt Congress doesn’t take any action to “strengthen” our 1A-protected religious freedoms.
