What I find dicey is folks will get a new (or one just back from some gunsmithing) semi auto and put a full mag in it, drop the slide and start shooting.
I prefer 1 shot, and check for lockback. Then 2 rounds in the mag and check that it doesn’t double or go full auto.
Only then will I use a full mag. The sears and disconnectors do break, get out of spec, installed wrong, etc, and you can never call back a round fired unintentionally.
Another tragic story was a guy shooting a 1911 pattern pistol with a fresh “trigger job”. It went full auto as he dropped the slide, and he shot several fingers off his left hand. I can’t figure how he got his left hand in front of the barrel, but he did.
Watch out! There are those out there with a superior grasp of physics (I'm assuming both classical and quantum.) and the human physiology who will attack such statements as the above.
