Ted Cruz vs. Marco Rubio: This Is Where We Are Headed
Red State ^ | September 21, 2015 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 09/23/2015 7:30:33 AM PDT by Timber Rattler

The sharp and rapid rise of Carly Fiorina is, for me at least, another indicator that polling right now is volatile and flawed. I actually think if primary season started tomorrow, we’d find the last men standing would be Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 92%, with Cruz having a slight advantage — for now at least.

I personally know his state chair in VA, Howie Lind. I know he has them in NH, Iowa, and South Carolina. If you google it, you will find the names of many of them including state and county representatives.

I can and will but it might take more than a few seconds for me to find the video of the pre-election interview Marko gave regarding his rock solid stance on handling illegal immigration.

Rubio immediately changed his rock solid stance after being sworn into office and teaming up with Chuck Schumer, of all people!

Don't worry. Mr. Trump has plenty of advisers on board. He knows what he needs to do.

Assert what? Do you deny that Rubio supported the Rubio-Schumer Gang of 8 bill? Do you deny that Rubio has sponsored a bill to increase the number of H-1B visas? I am giving you facts. You just deal in generalities and invective.

“Both Rubio and Cruz are ineligible for president. See Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5 of the United States Constitution.”

Has not Trump expressed support for a form of amnesty? That’s what I’ve heard from him when he talks about letting the “good ones” of those who have entered illegally live here.

He has said that he wants all the illegals to be deported and that some "good ones" would be allowed back in if they go thru the legal process. Have you read Trump's position paper on immigration? It is the best one ever presented by a Presidential candidate.

Cruz and Rubio support legalization of the lawbreakers allowing them to stay and work here, i.e., amnesty. They don't have to leave and apply outside the country to reenter.

And he probably pays smart bookies for REAL polling results.

Notice he brings up polls a lot? There’s a reason; he’s probably going to break the rigged polls/vote fraud machine the Uniparty depends on to fix elections.

Is his name going to magically appear on primary ballots in all 50 states?

******************

That’s a good question and each candidate has to address. I’ve not seen anything indicating how each will address the issue but it does take
boots on the ground and in some cases a good bit of work.

Example in Texas it requires a $5,000 filing fee and 4,500 signatures from
various CDs, 300 per 15 CDs.

So yes it takes some local efforts but that is for each campaign to worry about.
How each is handling it at this stage I have no idea.

You should go to Tump’s website and read his position papers on immigration and the 2nd amendment. Trump will be adding position papers on national security and tax policy in the next few weeks. Bit by bit you will be able to read his plans in a specificity that has not been done by any of the other candidates.

Trump had people working Iowa for months before he officially announced. Chuck Laudner, who many credit with Santorum’s upset win in 2012 Iowa, heads DT’s effort.

Sorry, I missed General. I guess that you can add business tycoon when Trump is elected. There are firsts for everything. In every category you listed, someone had to be the first with that qualification to be elected President.

No, what I am asking for is more information on these things, what proposals Rubio specifically favored, why that was so bad, what his current platform position is that he has articulated, how his ideas compare to or differ from the other candidates, etc. etc.

Also, immigration is one issue among many. So, for example, if Rubio is strong on pro-life and religious liberty, and another candidate is weak on those issues but stronger on immigration--or Rubio is very strong and knowledgeable on foreign policy, and another candidate just likes to blow off gas and say that things will be "great"--well, I weigh all these factors.

How does Trump propose to physically deport ALL those millions who have entered illegally? Is that realistic or is it just rhetoric? And then to let the “good ones” back in—a path to citizenship—to me that sounds like a form of amnesty.

Ive yet to find that video but just for starters, read Marko’s various positions in 2010: http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2010/may/12/marco-rubio/marco-rubios-position-arizona-immigration-law/

Yes, I know that. I'm just saying that the historical odds are stacked against Trump, Carson, and Fiorina. All previous presidents have first served in some high level of the government.

If he really wants it, and at this point, I think he does, he’ll figure it out. He’s not stupid.

With Trump in particular, I want to hear what comes out of the guy's mouth, not just some position paper his staff has posted. When Trump speaks, to me he sounds very shallow and lacking substance. He's also arrogant and rude and narcissistic, and I find his personal character and demeanor very off-putting.

Furthermore, if you're willing to overlook Trump's long history of liberalism on many issues, if you're willing to trust that now he's had a sudden conversion to conservatism, even if he can't articulate constitutional conservatism in any depth when he speaks--then would it be possible that Rubio could improve and strengthen his position on immigration, as he remains conservative on other issues?

In any case, for now, Cruz remains my top choice. I see no need to consider Trump, whom I do not trust to be a conservative.
