Donald Trump has sent the Club for Growth a cease and desist letter aimed at stopping the conservative outside group from airing a set of attack ads against him in Iowa.
The letter comes a week after the Club for Growth unveiled a set of 30-second ads in Iowa attacking Trump as just another politician who supports liberal policies.
"I am not surprised the dishonest, irrelevant and totally failing Club for Growth has resorted to attacking the definitive front runner, especially after I refused to contribute to their pathetic group," Trump said in a statement. "We will be releasing my current tax proposal, which is a major decrease in taxes, in the next week and will continue to expose the two faced hypocrisy of the Club for Growth and the problems groups like this perpetuate within a broken Washington, D.C."
The cease and desist letter argues that one of the ads is not only "disingenuous, but replete with outright lies, false, defamatory and destructive statements and downright fabrications which you fully know to be untrue." The letter calls out the Club's claim that Trump supports raising taxes, arguing the source for that claim is a gross exaggeration. The Club cited Trump's support in 1999 for a one-time 14.25 percent tax on individual net worth and trusts.

GOPe.
Trump maybe the first presidential candidate to actually make money during a campaign.
Not going to happen but amusing to think about.
Yes at some Point Donald is going to have to spend some money and it could be some positive ads and then some negative ads. He needs to do an ad with clips from his rallies and run it all over Iowa.
What is really interesting is that he is doing what he said in terms of preparing himself issue by issue through the campaign. First immigration, then guns, taxes is coming. By Nov 2016 he will have rolled out a comprehensive policy on everything and HIS POLICY PAPERS SEEM TO GROW MORE CONSERVATIVE as time goes on (I.e., guns).
There’s a few of the class of 1997 around, but you don’t see them often.
Thanks.
Most of the other pols would have ponied up the extortion payment the “chumps for growth” have demanded of Trump. It’s good that trump is willing to have a transparent and very public fight against this kind of chicanery.
Which has to be proven in a court too, so there is a lot of slop in the system. Not impossible, but not even the majority of such possible cases ever get there.
He had to know how to get the media talking to his advantage during all the years he was empire building.
Ever the “statesman,” I see. LOL! For someone so “respected” he does come off as thin skinned and whiney a lot.
Could have just ignored the group and said what he planned to do about actual issues facing our nation.
There are at least 8-10 1997 FReepers around. Liz is one.
Well, at least to spend at much smaller rate than the typical politician.
I agree... most cases don’t get there. I think Trump probably gets little guys without big bucks shut down with the threat. They can’t afford to go against him in court, or even the lead up to court costs.
The laws in regards to libel/slander ect do not apply to political figures, free speech is given the widest latitude when it comes to political figures.
If this were not so. Most of the left would have been in jail about the W presidency.
It’s too bad Trump can’t afford a team of top drawer attorneys to kick these guys’ ...
... oh, wait.
He’s being populist and he knows that conservative is where the people really are (liberal plays to certain small groups but does not get broader America to buy in).
Interesting. Thanks. I was just wondering the other day why it took me so long to find this site.
The Club For Cheap Labor has exposed themselves as just more employees of The Cheap Labor Express.
It’s pretty amazing how many people have been paid off to betray the citizens.
It has to be played with discretion so you come across as a person with a righteous cause, not a hot head bully ready to take offense at most any slight.
