My experience has been the same. People who know nothing but the military from the time they are children are not necessarily folks you’d want to live under. There are plenty of good guys (Mixon, Pace, Mundy, Boykin) but there are also the Mike Mullins of the world.

Interesting comments that echo what my Dad told me. When he was drafted out of a factory in 1942, he was a strong Democrat and New Dealer. It was his experience in the Army that eventually led him to conservatism.
