I’m uncomfortable with this reasoning, and anyone’s setting up a judgment regarding a “real Moslem” and all the implication of that. It reminds me of the discussion of John Kennedy’s Catholic faith. A “real Catholic,” people said, would put obedience to the Pope over the good of the United States. Kennedy responded, in effect, by saying he wasn’t a real Catholic, so it was nothing to worry about. (This was certainly borne out by his personal life.)
The Caliphate appears in the Koran and is a fairly consistent dream of islam throughout their centuries, with many iterations of the caliphate established.
Islam is a POLITICAL philosophy as much as a religious one, TC.
That very fact itself is irrefutable, and it is also disqualifying of any candidate for our presidency.
So, I would NEVER vote for a muslim. I think that’s pretty much what Ben Carson was saying. They can run, but they’ll not get my vote.
Additionally — and this is me personally — I don’t think they’re qualified. I don’t think Bernie Sanders is either. He wants to set up a socialist form of government, and that, too, in my mind is treasonous. We are a constitutional republic.
