Washington (AFP) - Dre, who turns 15 this month, has been unable to walk or talk since he was shot in the head, his plight a sad example of the toll taken by worsening US gun violence.
Deandra Yates, Dre's mother, felt her world collapse in February 2014 when an unidentified youth -- aged 17 or 18, she says -- fired 22 shots into a birthday party her son was attending.

Read the comments to the article. There are some great ones.
> The article is clearly written by some gun control weenies with an agenda. It doesn’t go much into detail about the root causes of the violence.
What those weenies don’t get is that their idol has made it goal to remove guns from the populace regardless of what it takes no matter what it takes even if it means Creating huge socal unrest, staging shootings or habing his overlord fund anti-gun groups with false facts and propaganda
How about putting pressure on your own neighborhood to reveal his identity?
Let me guess, most if these happened in a city with strict gun control laws.
Wonder what the change has been that has brought this on.....??
thug is right!
What can we expect from the plethora of fatherless "daddyless" boys who never learn how do deal with life as a real MAN?
The community in question knows all this but...well, 'nuff said.

The community in question is just ahead of the curve. You don’t get very far advocating chastity on FR.
Yet, the community in question propounds to be big on Christianity. Hmmm, do I detect some hypocrisy here?
Almost ALL of this murder, increased murder, shootings, and increased shootings are black-on-black gang and black-on-black drug-dealer killings and shootings. That’s why the headline “Summer of bloodshed as US murder rates rise” wasn’t stated as “Summer of bloodshed as US BLACK murder rates rise”, because the second headline would be unnecessarily redundant.
There is definitely inconsistency. “Hypocrisy” requires a conscious decision to proclaim one value while practicing another. It is possible that many truly believe that habitual sexual incontinence is consistent with Christianity.
I’ve observed that many who profess Christianity don’t actually read the Bible, or other sources of instruction, a great deal. While it’s entirely possible to be a Christian without functional literacy, that leaves you at the mercy of those who tell you what Christianity means.
People often fear what they don't know or understand.
People have been murdering each other since Cain and Abel. No guns there.
Other ways to kill:
arson
poison
stangulation
hanging/lynchin'
2x4 over the back of the head
knife
suffocation by gas
burning
lethal injection
acid in eyes/throat/stomach
Humans have been using non-gun weapons LONG, LONG, LONG before we ever came up with a gun.
I wonder what the REAL underlying reason is for hating guns.
Who can't LOVE the "great equalizer"???
BANG!!

True enough.
MOST human societies have come up with the same, or very similar, rights and wrongs. There ARE absolutes, whatever those moral relativity people may think.
Nature teaches us that uncontrolled sexual activity results in societal disaster. It’s not just me being a bigot ... it’s nature. If you don’t like it (general “you,” not you-you), take it up with the Creator or the forces of evolution, whichever you prefer.
Anthropologists occasionally like to trumpet the glories of some culture in which everyone pretty much screws as the mood takes them, but, to the extent that those cultures actually exist, they have some common characteristics: they involve a few hundred to a few thousand people living in primitive squalor in environments nobody else can be bothered to take from them.

They would eventually be doomed, genetically, as their marriage pool would be far, far too small.
Remember Zuben Mehta? He was a famous conductor and was a Farsi and said that though the intermarriage allowed by the Farsis was generally very bad, it sometimes DID produce a GENIUS, he said, pointing to himself, "like me."
You are right, the comments are excellent.
I do remember Mr. Mehta, although I didn’t know he was Persian. Consanguineous marriage does concentrate traits, including, sometimes, extremes of talent or intelligence.
When you have a culture that values academic achievement, such as that of some Jewish communities, you get something like a eugenics process orientated toward high intelligence, because demonstrably smart men are the most desirable marriage partners. Unfortunately, you can also concentrate hereditary physical defects, such as Tay-Sachs disease.
The more endogamous the community is, the more both the advantages and the defects proliferate in the group.
“Deandra Yates, Dre’s mother”
“Hope & change” - more of the same...
Who cares about these stories anymore? Does anyone feel these are kindred spirits, countrymen?
From the story:
“Gun violence is affecting our community really bad,” she told AFP. “It’s an epidemic, it’s almost like genocide.”
Somebody should define this for her...
