Correct and let's don't forget about the complicity of the SCOTUS.

Gina McCarthy has to find money to clean up her Colorado mess. What better scapegoat than the foreign auto makers.

I just replaced a 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid with a 2015 F150 Crew Cab 4x4 with 3.5L Eco-Boost engine. The Mariner promised 32 MPG. It delivered that ONCE. On average, it delivered 26 MPG. Winters with harsh subzero temps dropped to 21 1/2 MPG. Summers around 26 MPG. Spring/Fall (fair weather) 28 MPG. I live at 4600 ft. The one time it delivered the claimed mileage was in the Spring in San Diego (sea level) with no air conditioner and cruise control on a steady freeway trip.

The new truck delivers 20 MPG when ripping down I-15 at 80 MPH (Pocatello to Idaho Falls) with the air conditioner running. We have topped 26 MPG traveling a steady 65 MPH on the way to Yellowstone National Park. Seeing that result, we tried going State Route 91 from Idaho Falls to Pocatello at 55 MPH (where posted) and also improved the mileage. Around town driving, it gets 18 MPG. The engine is a V6 with a 6-speed transmission with auto shutdown when stopped/idling. It has the tow package with 8500 lbs pulling capacity. Much better than the 1,000 lbs of the Mariner.
