Because he's right. The Constitution prohibits a formal religious test for public office, and - in this anti-Christian era - that protects YOU as much as it protects Muslims.
However, the Constitution does NOT prohibit citizens from voting against persons of a particular faith if they believe that faith is hostile to their own beliefs and values, or to the Constitution itself.

It wasn’t till about 1790 or so that we lifted the restrictions on Catholic immigration into this country and it wasn’t till 1963 that we elected a Catholic president.
We can play all the word games we want but by all constitutional standards there are no religious restrictions or requirements to run for president.
