I had a friend - a British actor who was a wiz at puzzles, a brilliant Bridge player and a member of Mensa. Sadly, he was the stupidest man I have every met in my entire life. Didn’t Christopher Hitchens take that organization down years ago??

High IQ doesn’t always equate with an ability to function well in the world. More often than not it’s a predictor of economic success, but there have always been notable exceptions.

Why did you think he was stupid? I assume you mean overall, but some people are idiots in certain areas and brilliant in others.

I should add my father thought I was a moron because I didn't like to pursue the activities he liked. And to be fair, in my life I've done some pretty dumb things.

But my father didn't appreciate my positive qualities and delighted in pointing out (in public) my deficiencies. Are you doing that to the actor?
