A Muslim teen, fourteen-year-old Ahmed Mohamed, bought a strange ticking device to his school, MacArthur High School. His device caused alarm and fear, and he was detained for having what his teacher perceived as a bomb. Police officers said the electronic components and wires inside his Vaultz pencil case (which is the size of a briefcase) looked like a hoax bomb, according to local news station WFAA.

Maybe they thought it was simply intended to be a hoax bomb? They may have noticed the lack of explosives, but still thought it serious enough to contact authorities. The police already said he was acting funny about the whole thing. If a kid brings a hoax bomb to school, is the administration required to contact authorities?
School acts stupidly? How would the NSA have acted?
That was the plan and it worked to perfection.
If he were such a genius, then why did clock go off in English class?
Either....
1. He’s not such a genius, because of he were that smart, he’d at least know how to set the timer/alarm.
Or....
2. He INTENDED for it to go off in English class either to be a brat and cause a disruption or to cause the scare that his Science teacher warned him of.
Either way, none of that speaks to a stellar/model student the media is making this kid out to be.

That’s exactly my point and good on you for doing your own research. The question that needs to be asked is “if they really thought it was a bomb be why didn’t they call bomb squad, evacuate school etc...”?
