Had he developed the nuke, what would any of you say about Bush’s failure to stop Saddam Hussein had a terrorist sneaked a small nuke into Manhattan?

Hey, the Soviets had nukes, and they supported terrorists - including the guy who shot the pope. But Reagan didn’t start a war against the Soviets. Who was the better and more successful foreign policy president - Reagan, who started no wars, (but won the Cold War), or Bush, who started wars, and won none of them?

I responded to someone who claims that the Iraq war was a mistake. I made the challenge to go back to the reasons at the time -— not taking a position now having the benefit of knowing the history.

I made no comparison of Bush and Reagan. Reagan is my hero. Evoking Reagan to attack my argument was irrelevant. There were valid reasons at the time to go into Iraq. Go back and read the speech. Also go back and read the statements from both sides of the aisle when they first voted to give the authority to use force. People seem to forget all the statements that Hussein was working on a nuke and someday it would be used. Remember that after he got kicked out of Kuwait, he burned the oil fields. In his own conversations with his CIA handler, he talked about pursuing a nuke when the heat was turned down.

It is clear why the Middle East went to hell. A man who grew up as a Muslim and who has always hated America became the president.
