Let’s see? If the House and Senate GOP propose and vote on a budget that is stalled because of unified Democrat opposition to a single provision in that budget, how exactly is that the same as the Republicans “pushing for a a government shutdown?”

What does “government shutdown” even MEAN? Oh, there are threats that Grandma won’t get her Social Security check, and the school teachers and firemen and policemen will be furloughed, and that mail won’t be delivered. If there is a huge blowup because everyday services cannot operate, due to total government collapse, all these things are going to happen anyway.
“My way or the highway” only makes sense when there IS a highway to take as the alternative. When the highway is non-existent or so badly damaged as to be impassable, “my way” is just destructive and with no redeeming social, financial or moral value whatsoever.
