It says they were doves, not pigeons. And you’re right in that they aren’t “tame”. But they are caged then let out and shot as they fly away.
To me it’s no different than putting corn out then hiding up in a tree and shooting the deer after they’ve become accustomed to the free meal. It’s not what I call hunting. I don’t ever remember reading anything about Daniel Boone or Davy Crockett setting up deer feeders. Maybe they did.
I think one day you’ll be able to buy a deer in a cage then let it out and shoot it as it tries to run away.
I’m looking for a lake that has scuba divers placing fish on hooks. I’m sure I could catch my limit real fast.
They hunted to put food on the table so maybe they did. They probably wouldn't have wasted corn like that but it is a sure thing they knew where the natural feeding locations were.
