That's a possibility for the FBI and other agencies. I doubt it.
"Point Two: Ive always preferred a wall of separation between DOJ and the Executive Branch. Practically speaking, I guess a scenario sort of like the FBI where its head is appointed for a ten year term (I think)????"
The Department of Justice was originally meant to be autonomous from the WH like the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) for Congresss. However, all are appointed by their respective branches. My biggest concern is the life-long appointments to the USSC. The Founding Fathers' could never have seen how that branch would be so abused, much less the other two branches.
Obviously, the DOJ has become so politically motivated since Clinton, . But the GAO and CBO are still non-partisan and often put out negative studies that the MSM doesn't report. The Inspector Generals of various departments/agencies are sometimes forthcoming, depending on which organization and who is loyal to whom.
I completely agree with term limits for any fedgov, stategov, localgov representative. That's the only cure but they will never limit their power. I've been promoting term limits for 3 decades. It was a main principle of Veterns for Constitutional Restoration (VetsCor). I would give 2 four year terms for Senators and 4 two year terms for House Reps.
Power corrupts. Since the Legislative branch and the Judicial Branch have unlimited terms, power currupts absolutely. Thank god for the Amendment XXII that limits the president to two terms. If not for that, we would have been a dictatorship after Roosevelt.
............excellent points! Thank you!
