“Even the amateur Trump was against the invasion of Iraq which, quite predictably, turned into the root cause of this particular middle eastern problem and a slew of others”
Leaving Iraq and taking Kadaffi out did more to destabilize the middle east than the original invasion ever did, that’s a fact.
That whole Arab Spring thing is a huge debacle.
Every expert in the military told the Won not to withdraw from Iraq. Nice vacuum he and val created, and it should suck in his Nobel Peace prize.
Yeah, pulling out led to the vacuum but I'm not sure there was realistically a choice after 10 years, 5,000 lives, countless wounded, and over a trillion dollars. If we hadn't gone in in the first place, we wouldn't have had to worry about the unintended consequences of pulling out.
I think once we exhausted ourselves in Iraq, we were no longer in a position of strength from which to manage events in the middle east and the chaos in Iraq was the first domino to fall. All this chaos is a related to US weakness and declining influence which is a consequence of the invasion of Iraq.
Not a fact.
The whole pooch screw is from going in to begin with. The world would have been far better off leaving Saddam and Kadaffi in power. They knew how to control their respective asylums.
