THERE IS one man who can save the Republican Party, and his name is Mitt Romney.
Seriously.
Seven years after Romney crashed and burned in the 2008 Republican primary and three years after he beat a weak GOP presidential field before losing to President Obama, he is still the partys best hope of winning back the White House.

Can you actually look at the thread and what I wrote? It was a humorous thread and I wrote a five word response with ellipsis that was clearly intended to be humorous. Do you know what humor is? Look at my reply, it’s not a dissertation. It was clearly a joke. I have no idea if Shatner killed his wife, but it was suspicious, so I made a joke. Have I ever mention that issue on any other thread? No. Because it was just a joke I made at the time. Are you his agent or something. If I was asked to speak at his roast, i would have joked about it.
Yes, but in June he also said Hillary didn’t do anything wrong with email etc. Trump is a reality show guy - they fake feud about everything. Trump says one thing one week, and another another week. Trump did endorse Romney in the primary in 2012. Why would it be a surprise he would endorse Jeb? He’ll say something like, “I met with Jeb and I convinced him my solution is write, and now I know he will do a good job blah blah blah.”
I had my account temporarily suspended for taking on the Ah-nold sycophants and apologists. I lost my fiancée at the same time, too. How about you, Nick ?
Bullcrap. You’re rewriting history now, Nick. You made a definitive conclusion, couldn’t back it up and went stone cold silent on it UNTIL this very thread tonight/this morning. Guess you figured out what “libel” means.
Well, all your conclusions are duly noted. We shall see. I need sleep. Adios.
And last night on Fallon, I heard Trump say that one of the most important things he will do is reign in runaway government spending.
So Trump appears to be conservative on Big Government as well.
If he can control his impulses regarding personal attacks and insensitivity, Donald Trump is going to be the next President of the United States, winning significant percentages of the GOP, black, independent, Hispanic, and women's vote. In short, he will win in a landslide. Trump is a candidate that a large majority of the country can support, and will support.
Just you watch. Trump is building an imposing electoral coalition. He's certainly not going to please everybody, though, especially strident ideological purists. But he will appeal to a wide swath of voters in one way or another.
Personally, I'd prefer Ted Cruz, but I now suspect that Cruz will end up being our VP. And with Republicans controlling Congress and Donald Trump's leadership in the White House, this nation will be in a position to do some great things.
If Trump gets elected, he's going to get more good things done than the last 4 Presidents combined.
It's going to be highly entertaining to see the malcontents jump on the bandwagon one by one. We're already seeing it on this very forum, from people who identify as conservatives.
Live it. Learn it. Love it. There will be room for you when the time comes.
Are you chitting me?
Mittens isn’t a bad man. I believe his heart is in the right place. But he already showed us that he folds when the going gets tough. (That wreck of a debate!) Plus he showed his bad judgment not only in crafting the first iteration of Obamacare, but also in relying on the computer program that showed he was far ahead in votes. We need someone instead who’ll go toe to toe with all comers. Cruz...or maybe Trump. Or Fiorina or Walker. But not Mittens.
Madam, he is not only a bad man, but the very worst sort of fraud, pathological liar and malignant narcissist every equal of the current occupant of the White House. He had no intention of running a legitimate candidacy in 2012 except to stop and outspend any Conservative that might attempt to run. He is entirely in league with the big spending Socialist-Marxist Uniparty in DC and was nothing but a ringer for Zero. There’s a very special place in hell for reprobates like him.
Your opinion.
You’ve been here since 2004 and saw the hundreds (if not thousands) of threads and discussions from about 2005/06 to this very day thoroughly vetting Willard, his agenda, his morals and his character. If you still choose to defend him after having read any of them, it speaks more to your own character and willful blindness than anything else.
I say that as one who has spent decades studying thousands of politicians across the spectrum: Few come lower and more degenerate and deceitful in their methods and intentions (for the LIV set, that means pathological liar). In short, he has as much character as his opponent he served as a ringer for from 2012, ZERO.
I think it’s pretty entertaining how so many people that just HAD to vote for Mitt are now so upset by him.
If he was as bad as you say now, why pray tell did y’all flush your principles to vote for him then? Because the way he is being made out on this thread, he sure doesn’t sound like the ‘better’ option than Barry.
Funny how time skews perception.
The Glob is so worried about the Republican Party. They should be wanting their boy Romney to run on the Democrat ticket, which currently resembles a redux of The Three Stooges.
This article proves beyond a doubt just what absolute losers the Republican elites are.
They ran a sure loser in the last election and just like losers do, Romney lost the election...BIG TIME! Now, since little Jebbie seems to be hated by all conservatives, they want to run the sure loser (Romney) again.
Boy! I can say one thing: The motto of the Republican party “we go along to get along” and the suicidal lemming like drive to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory clearly shows that the party is absolutely BLIND to the “real world.”
The GOPe is so driven to enrich themselves and to keep their special fraternity of “good ole boys” together to rape the voters who put them into office for their own financial advancement.
How can anyone even stop to think this cancerous entity can be cured? The answer is that it can’t. It cannot be remade simply because the disease of cronyism, graft, lawlessness, pandering only to special interests, and total abandonment of support for the “small” conservative voter and of the tenets of our Constitution, Bill of Rights and freedoms in their drive for personal power and wealth.
We have only one chance and after that, all of the generation born after 1970 will “make their beds and lay in them to sleep.” As far as I am concerned, they have wrought the end of the America we older people once knew.
Hopefully he’ll pull an “accelerated Perry” by dropping out w/o first getting in....
This is so funny on so many fronts....First of all the writer believes what he is writing! Then its essentially calling Bush a complete bozo LOL! Then he insults the entire political consulting class...excellent!
What the GOPe, elites phoney writers, slimely consultants and RINOs cannot ever understand is voter integrity...basically conservative voters. The real majority.
You can define the word HATE many ways but be sure that conservatives “hate” their enemies but “hate” traitors more!
Mitt may be a good decent guy ,,or not but his time is up and voters are not in the mood for anymore BS!
Look at the source; Boston Globe, Michael Cohen, enough said. Nothing more lefty commie propaganda. The left would much rather take on Romney than Trump or Cruz.
The sort of obtuse silliness we’ve come to expect from The Boston Globe.
