A large number of them will probably be dumped in Nashville just like every other refugee group going back to 1974 - don't get me wrong, the Laotians weren't bad once the gang activity died down. Since then we have been blessed with El Salvadorians (the M13 gang is particularly vicious), Somalis (no comment), Ethiopians (rather nice, actually), Kurds (Nashville has the largest concentration of Kurds outside the Middle East, and their gangs are really, really bad), and Egyptians (good businessmen; we got mostly Copts and they have been an addition to the city).

I think the State Dept has a standing deal with the Nashville Metro government to dump their problem refugees here. The city gets some resettlement bucks (for a while) and reliable welfare plantation votes. Chamber of Commerce gets cheap labor, slum tenants, WalMart customers, etc. Normal folks get to move.

Lots of Illegal Mexicans too

Which means the usual pluses and minuses

Many groups of whites too from all over basically who tend to blend in

In Williamson where I am our biggest immigrant group is Californians

Some are happy refugees

Some non repentant refugees

Some reluctant transfers

Nashville has now once again elected another yankee lefty as mayor

This will be the fourth two termed in a row

Amazing

And people think Nashville is conservative
